#POST 24

I haven’t blogged in a while. I guess I should start up again! So I’ve spent about a month in college now and trust me, when they say college changes you, they meant it. I feel…more like a slut really! Not in the way I dress, but in the way I’ve been acting. Ah well, if there ever was an appropriate time to slut up it would be now. I’m pretty sure I’d just got a high five from my favourite How I Met Your Mother character Barney for that comment.
 Although, since starting college I’ve seen an obscene amount of boys peeing, none of them unknown (unfortunately) to me and trust me I wasn’t trying to take a look! Fanshawe is pretty awesome, mainly because of this amazing find though:

Yeah, that shit is real Potter Heads, the Deathly Hallows will follow you erry’ where! The inner nerd in me completely flipped out upon this discovery in one of the cafes in the school. Let me tell you I was so stoked and my poor friend Dave was just so confused. Oh well, I know some people who would find that incredible, like Biltmony Maxamillion. (She did find it amazing for the record.)

My program is amazing! It’s so close knit. We went camping for a full week up in Musokoa in the first few weeks of September. It was amazing! Now let me tell you, being brown town, I don’t get out of the house a lot. I absolutely loved this kind of ‘camping’. I would have been so stoked to go to a place like Pinecrest, or similar to it. I made some really great friendships there that I won’t probably ever forget. Our group made these ‘burn bracelets’. The group leaders (2 years in my program) bought a giant rope, cut them long enough to wrap around our wrists and then fused them together with a lighter. Yes, you’re thought process is correct; they were lit on fire, while on our wrists, after they cooled off though they looked really cool.

The point is that they wouldn’t come off and that us as a group would always be connected by these bracelets. Of course being the small thing I am, I slipped mine off to shower and what not.

 It really changed some people too. The last night, there was this talent show and the shyest kid in the whole program came up along with Nate, (a kid in my class who is unaware of how socially awkward he is, but we all love him anyways) and they rapped up a storm in front of our entire camping family! It was incredible! The rap was god awful but the fact that he came up to do it, and the reinforcement from Nate was just heart-warming. When they were done, we cheered like the Beatles were on stage for him. He came back on stage a few seconds after and said, ‘We should all just have one big hug.’ Something you gotta know about Rec and Leisure kids, when you say group hug, we mean group hug. All 150ish of us ran up to hug this kid. It was so inspiring and amazing just to witness and be a part of that!

So far, I’m loving the college life! Maybe I’ll do a fashion post or a food post next time! I’m stoked regardless.

POST #23

FASHION|THE VERSATILE DRESS

My first outfit post! So I have no idea how to articulate this type of post, but here I go trying...

So this is Beth.

I had Beth stand around my condo area; in about next to nothing as I took pictures of her with my crappy blue camera. Said camera is now missing, by the way. Anyways, I had her in one outfit the entire ‘shoot’. She was wearing a dress that could be worn to literally anything be it fancy, or just to hang around in. So this post is basically about how you can take one piece of clothing and recycle it for a few occasions.

For a fancy outing with this dress, I paired it with a thin grey belt, a few random black and sliver bracelets and a cute little pendant necklace, oh and killer heels. The heels are silver, but are reflective with the light.

I personally think that the thin belt makes it a wee bit classier. The belt was bought at a hardcore catholic thrift store for 50 cents. You could pair this classy version of the versatile grey dress with any colour of bando/thank top. I personally liked the blue on Beth so we went with that for the 'shoot' but I would go for a more neutral colour for fancy events.

                                   

So as I said, the shoes were quite reflective, so when I tried to take a decent picture of them they looked green due to the grass. They are actually silver. I these shoes would would work great with a pair of dark skinny jeans or with cute short bold coloured summer dresses.

Another great accessory is a great leather jacket. This jacket looks great as a fancy jacket as well as a stylish everyday wear. Which brings us to the mix up, the everyday look version of thus dress.

From Fancy to Chillin, just like that!

So for the hanging out version of this dress, I traded the heels for some ankle boots and the thin belt for a thick one. You could also work this with some leggings and flats. The combinations are really endless with this dress really.

So the accessories for this more casual look are these fabulous ankle boots:

And a thick belt:

 I feel that the thicker belt just seems more relaxed, less constriction and a lot more fun than a thin one. You could even play up the colours and styles of the belt. Depending on how you're wearing the dress, a belt can make a huge difference. For example, a shine-tasic belt while going clubbing would look way better than a nuetral coloured one would look. Belts are often the key to transforming outfits from Plain Jane to Dannng! 

So the last thing I would like to say about this photoshoot with Beth, is her makeup.

All I really did, was made giant <>'s to the corners and creases of her eyes with a black eye shadow blending with a brown towards her nose, then filled in the insides with a fun reddish copper colour to make her eyes pop a bit. A bit of eyeliner on the lid of her eye and mascara later, she looked ready to rock and roll!

Anywho, I would like to take this second to thank Beth for putting up with this silliness. She does make a far better model than I do though!

#POST 22

This is a sleep deprived post written because I am awake and tonight is worth writing about. First off my night started with my friend’s 20th birthday party. That was really boring and I do not feel bad saying that I was glad to leave. The plus side to the borefest was that I did not arrive there until 11:30 PM and this is where my night begins.

My friend Kolacz and I left to head up to the local Timmys at 2 AM. We decided that we would grab some grub and then climb Clemens Mill, our old elementary school. On our way to Timmy’s we stop across the street of another one of our friends, Mike. Out of tipsy-ness and the sense of adventure, we call him up and in about five minutes he to is on our way with us to Timmy’s. Kolacz and I thought it was so funny to call Mike up, and then we thought ‘Fuck Yeah Mike!’ for leaving his house at 2:30 AM to do some adventuring. We all make our way to Timmy’s and Kolacz parts ways with us for a few minutes to grab some cash so I could buy him some smokes. Being the only legal one out of the three of us he was really thankful that I had bought him them.

After our food stop we headed off to the school. It’s about 20 after 3 AM at this time. On the way we discover that Mike has a fear of heights, but like a champ he was willing to overcome his fear. Kolacz helps Mike and I get up on the first story and the view is just amazing. The trees look like a plastic model and the houses look as if they were carved carefully out of clay. When Kolacz gets himself on the first level, he leads us to the ladder of where the second story entrance was. I climbed up the cold ladder and discovered that the view form the first landing was absolutely nothing compared to what my eyes were taking in. It was quiet and peaceful, with just the sounds of the covered ceiling fans and the wind blowing around you. The entire city of Cambridge looked like, as Kolacz put it, a carefully crafted doll town. The houses looked perfect, the trees looked like small toys and the roads all disappeared with their bends and turns around corners. You could see for miles.

The time was now 4 AM. The beauty of the city completely consumes your mind, and then I looked up. The sky was wonderful. The clouds wrapped around the atmosphere like loose cotton fluff and moved at a painfully slow rate round the earth. The three of us laid on our backs and looked up at the sky, completely mesmerized by scattered stars and dream like clouds. There were no trees, or buildings obstructing our view of the limitless night sky before us. It was one of the most amazing experiences I’d ever had in my life.

I would also like to note that I did all of this in 3 inch heels. I feel very accomplished. I like to think that I was the first one ever to be on top of that school with heels that high. I got home at 10 to 5.

Now I am listening to Discovery by Daft Punk and finishing up this post. It was too amazing not to blog about.

POST # 19

Well, for the past few weeks I’ve been updating/changing/severely neglecting this blog and now I think I’ll fix it up a bit and actually post something. Now if anyone cares to back-track you will notice that ‘POST’s 06-10’ are missing. Why you ask? Well. Those were the posts that I had attempted the ’30 day challenge’ thing. Funny joke right? Me? Committing to something? I’m laughing as I type!

Anyways, my last post seemed dark, damp and depressing, I every time I click on my blog page I see that post and want to crawl into a dark corner and cry. No more of that now! I have semi-big plans for this blog! I want to add a fashion component, along with some quick recipes and some DIY stuff. Kind of like a Tumblr but more elaborate. Of course all of these new categories will be linked to and from their respective pages. For example, Fashion from LookBook.nu, and Recipes/DYI from Tumblr, cause you know I’m an attention seeking cow with ADD and I’ll forget where I had that one random post. Anywho, sometime this month I shall post up at least two fashion posts and one recipe.

Along with sharing all of my quirky ideas to the world wide web, I am also doing this so I don’t forget when I go to school next year in London (not England, Ontario). I’m pretty stoked about it, but I’ve come up with a lot of fashion tips, quick food fixes and cheap innovations within this past year, and I’ve already forgotten half of them, so this blog will be great as a ‘student life index’ for me when I finally leave my Momma’s house.

Well this was a short but sweet and hopefully a update with promises I will (cross your fingers) pull through with. Lets hope I don’t procrastinate too much.
